Julie Will Tell You How To Talk To A Pregnant Person

Julie of “The Daily Julie”, pregnant, surely speaks on behalf of all pregnant women with her recent post “How to Talk to a Pregnant Lady”. Saying that “the questions you ask a preg are seemingly harmless and well meaning and most of the time, they are met with a smile by the recipient” she goes on to share a “secret” – your questions piss pregnant women off!

What questions? Offensive, prying questions such as:

1. When are you due? Maybe you’re curious, maybe you just don’t know what else to say, but this is the number one question that any pregnant lady is asked every single day. I should just get a temporary glitter tattoo across my forehead that says April 11.

2. What are you having? Um, a baby? I know you mean to ask the gender, but really I don’t know and really it’s none of your business.

3. Have you picked out names? I find this question to be really personal. Maybe I have but maybe I don’t want tell anyone. Or maybe I’ve been thinking about names for 21 weeks and still haven’t figured it out. Either way, this question puts me in an awkward position, so best not to ask and stress me out, mkay?

4. Are you hoping for a boy or a girl? It’s cliche, but most pregnant ladies really just do hope for a healthy baby. There’s SO much that can go wrong during the course of pregnancy that it’s a miracle that so many babies come out healthy and perfect.

Number five is about unsolicited child raising advice – which I can get behind if we are talking about some random waitress at Sizzler trying to tell some pregnant customer how spankings are the best discipline or something. Mainly because I’m usually at the next table yelling “hey Rita, less chit chat about time outs and more getting my Surf-n-Turf platter in front of me”. But Pregnant Julie declares “I don’t care if you’re Micholee Duggar and have been around the block 19 times. If I would like your opinion on babies, boobies or birthing, I’ll ask” which is a bit dismissive and know-it-all for a first time mom. I guess checking the “What To Expect” website every day makes her more of an expert than a woman who turned her vagina into a baby clown car.

I could have agreed with her if she had made the post about how random strangers come up and start rubbing your belly or touching your baby. Invading someone’s personal space and touching their body without being invited is so crazy rude I think we could all support someone complaining about that. But some saleslady asking a routine question is not exactly an assault on personal privacy.

Seriously, I’m sorry the checkout girl at Starbucks smiled and asked you about a very visible physical state that some women are delighted to talk about with anyone, anywhere, at every opportunity. How trying for the pregnant women of the world to deal with other people wanting to share your happiness! Julie is such a hero for standing up and saying “stop asking me about an event that many women would kill to experience” and preserving Private Pregnancy Rights for future generations. So fecund, so brave.

Mr. Dooce Vagueblogging…Yes, Again

Jon Armstrong, serial vagueblogger, is vagueblogging again.  Shortly after helping his estranged wife reinvent her dying site, Mr. Dooce began posting his latest round of obtuse affirmations that sound like something ripped from an Oprah book club selection. Evidently that hasn’t gotten him enough e-hugs from the crowd of slobbering middle aged women in his comments, because he stepped it up to a full blown post of “huh?”

Project Babies To “Move On” From Blogging, Internet Says “Amen!”

Following the latest round of “Kristin Gets Her E-Ass Handed To Her”, Project Babies has now declared she will be spending more time with Jesus and, apparently, saving orphans. Announcing “It’s been really fun, you guys. It really has been…But it’s time to move on” Kristin urges everyone to join her in…whatever it is she’ll be doing with her time:

We’ve got to get off our computers and start helping others. HANDS ON. No more anonymous snarky blog comments, no more twitter feuds over politics and religion, no more blacklisting haters or fretting over who-said-what. It’s a waste…I will miss it. I really will. But God has said (shouted), “It’s time.”

Oh honey, when even God starts agreeing with GOMIBLOG maybe it really is time to hang that ish up. Anyway, Kristin is off to be a wife and mother and “tell others about God’s redeeming love”, so maybe the internets can finally get back to the important business of posting cat gifs and discussing Dr. Who. Happy Monday to us all!

Project Babies Thinks It’s Appropriate to Discuss Layoffs On Twitter

Project Babies’ Kristin, captain of industry, has been spewing hot, fiery conservative rage all over Twitter since last night. One part that really stood out was this:

First off, what if employees of Trisha Hope’s company read her timeline? Is that really the best way to announce layoffs? Also, the way Kristin’s tweet is worded she makes it seem as if employees who support health care reform are the ones she and her husband will fire. Even if that’s not the case, it just seems flippant and incredibly gross to talk about firing employees in a forum that your employees can easily read.

Note: Project Babies has locked her Twitter timeline, so don’t bother trying to look at it right now. Oh well, we’ll always have the screenshots.

Project Babies Wants You To Think About The “Big Picture”

Project Babies‘ Kristin, political expert, has made it clear how she decides her position on political issues in the past. Now she’s defending her devotion to Romney in terms we can all understand:

You heard right – social issues are simply not important if people can’t afford valet parking at the mall. When a few of her followers tried to tell her that social issues were just as important as her being able to take vacations in France and buy “Latino-inspired” outfits for her baby to attend festivals, she schooled them but good:

As folks continued trying to explain to her that a “thriving economy” doesn’t really make up for the possible loss of reproductive freedom, marriage equality, and other social issues, she responded with an intelligent and well thought out rebuttal:

Well then. I don’t know about you, but I am making “Kristin For POTUS 2016” buttons as we speak!

Nat The Fat Rat Discussed “Rape Fantasies”, Internet Says “WTF?”

Natalie Holbrook, from that “Nat the Fat Rat” site, went back to Utah for a visit recently. During her recap of the trip, she described a lovely time spent crafting and filming and apparently putting Diet Coke in her pants (hey, I skimmed ok?). Then out of nowhere:

then there was a mid-craft two-hour rio break in the middle with my sister and the hackworth and the ceej in which we discussed, what else? sex and rape fantasies. in utah this is what you talk about.

and then the party!

Needless to say, some people were not really thrilled about this little aside, and began furiously commenting their displeasure. Natalie finally deleted the statement and then removed any reference to it in her comments:

regarding the drama: i have removed the sentence in question, as well as any and all comments referring to it, because i didn’t mean it like that AT ALL. in fact, i’m entirely embarrassed and frustrated by it. i’ve closed the comments, it was getting out of hand.

Stating that “this as a temporary update for those of you who were checking back frequently (i’ll delete it in a few hours)”, she also says that “in the future, if i say something off-color that offends you, please know it was not done on purpose”. So, ya know, stop being…

hurtful to me because you feel you should get to “take me down a notch” or because it makes you feel better about something, i’ll delete your comment and feel sorry for your mother, who obviously never managed to teach you any manners. (it’ll also ruin my day, which i’m sure is what you’re going for.)

Yes Natalie, obviously people only comment in a negative way to ruin your sunshiney day because they have no manners. It has nothing to do with the fact that there are people whose lives may have been touched by rape, who maybe don’t find little behind-the-hand-giggling anecdotes about you and your oh-so-edgy friends endearing or particularly worth mentioning at all, and maybe wanted to share their feelings about your statement. You know, maybe that.

But hey, she’s going to delete it soon so basically it’s like this never happened.
