Mommy Blogging About a year after closing up her former blog, an old GOMIBLOG favorite returns – and there are some changes. For one, she now goes by “Mama Bear”, for obvious reasons: Yes folks, Love Life Lace is back, and omghappier than ever. I have to say that this pregnancy has made me the happiest I can probably ever remember being. I’ve struggled a lot with anxiety, depression and PMDD and I was very worried about how the pregnancy would affect me emotionally so I am thrilled that I’ve been feeling great! In fact if it weren’t for the occasional aches and pains I would probably want to be pregnant always! In addition to that my skin has never looked better so I’m really soaking in all the positives of this pregnancy. I’m sorry but I can’t snark on her today. She seems really happy and that’s a cute outfit (though I’m sick to death of chevrons). It looks like they did a good job fixing up that mountain cabin as well, though I have no idea where on earth they intend to stick another human being in that place. So welcome back, Tatiana! You were missed around GOMIBLOG. Stay around a while this time, won’t you? Jennifer McKinney, the former Mycharmingkids.net, was forced by the Lord Himself more than 4 months ago to pay off her debts. Now, just days after her blog has finally gone offline, Mckdrama has signed a “waiver of discharge” and apparently agreed to pay off her creditors. Blogger type Tracy says the bankruptcy “was almost certainly going to be denied anyway”, and is of the opinion that they “probably agreed to this in the hope that criminal charges would not be forthcoming” regarding possible attempts to deceive the bankruptcy court. Regardless of the reasons, this is a pretty snooze inducing outcome considering all the arm waving and screeching that went on from both sides during all of this. But hey, maybe if they are charged with something they will pack up the kids and move to a non-extradition country. Just imagine the fictionalized accounts on Law & Order and Lifetime (“Never Gettin’ My Moneys: The Mckmama Back Taxes Story”), her finally opening a new blog in order to dispute the weight America’s Most Wanted described her at. Then we can see some REAL Mckdrama!
Miss James, the homeschooling matriarch of Bleubird Vintage, brought another little instagram subject into her healthy home Sunday: our baby son was born yesterday, september 30th, in our home at 7:08pm. his name is sailor rhodes mccoy. True to modern blogger form pictures of the blessed event were shared for all the world: Welcome to world, Sailor! When you finally wake up we look forward to seeing how you get mometized for the internet! After scandals with bankruptcy court blogger Mckmama is shuttering her My Charming Kids blog for good. Announcing that she and her husband Israel are once again living together, Mckmama says the time is “too perfect to pass up”, and gushes that they are looking forward to other things – a “new beginning” with more “love, adventures, excitement and maybe more children”. Mckmama writes that she “could keep this blog if I wanted to, I guess”, claims she is “grateful for the years I had with this blog and unspeakably hopeful about the many years to come without it”, and reminds everyone to email her and follow her facebook page (I guess all that jazz about spending more time with God and her kids doesn’t cover social media). Fans and anti-fans who have followed her financial troubles are privately of the opinion that this is being forced on her as part of her bankruptcy asset hand over, and are already whispering that she will have a new url and blog within months. Katie Allison Granju, the constantly weeping eyes behind Mamapundit, is claiming a recent submission to PostSecret may be about her. On her facebook page she states: FYI, for anyone who has seen it, the “Henry” postcard at PostSecret.com today IS NOT FROM ME. It looks likely that some very cruel, disturbed person posted that to try to make it look like I abuse drugs myself. They even mentioned my birthday, which is indeed this week. I feel literally sick over it. Who DOES something like that? In response to a commenter saying they “had a feeling it might have been faked”, Katie responded: …I think PostSecret is a great thing. And if this is a real secret, then it’s good that this person has a place to spill it. But I suspect PostSecret is being used to harass and defame me, and I am not good with that. The secret in question, posted on September 8th, is below: While other commenters write that “Oh, hole, of course it’s mocking Katie” and Katie’s white knights rush to the PostSecret community to clear her name, others are trying to reassure KAG that not everything is about her and that this is most likely a coincidence despite KAG saying that “there are certainly people who would go to that much trouble to be cruel to other people” (meaning her). While KAG insists she has “no intention of requesting its removal” someone who was a “virtual intern” for PostSecret told KAG to contact the owner because he could “discern by the postmark if it might be a genuine secret or someone with ulterior motives”. Personally I think this is another case of “not everything is about you, Katie”. Or as one Facebook commenter said, “Do you really think you are the only mother that has every lost a child named Henry? Do you really think you are the only mother that lost a child that was born in September?” Those following the Doocevorce have some new Sad Jon fodder to parse and puzzle over. Shortly after Dooce instagrammed that a relaxing moment with a beer was “Missing only one ingredient for total perfection” and began posting love songs, Mr. Dooce crafted one of his trademark “14 year old girl on facebook makes you guess the meaning” posts: CecilyK, like so many mommy bloggers, has a column over at Babble.com. And like most bloggers she posts teasers and a link to her columns whenever they are posted. Apparently some of her readers are getting tired of her “bait and switch game”, and decided to say so: “Cecily, I really enjoy your writing and your point of view, but I seriously hate being forced to click over to another website. If I wanted to go to that website, I would just go there…this is a game that I don’t want to play…” “so, first I have to click over from my reader, then I have to click to yet another website after the first paragraph? Completely ridiculous, and you just lost another reader.” Rather than thinking about what her readers are complaining about and coming up with another option for pimping out her other content, Cecily basically said “Shakespeare gotta get paid”: Um…Cecily honey that’s great that Babble is paying your bills, but it’s not the responsibility of your readers to follow you all over the internet to make sure you can buy your pallet of Red Bull this month. Maybe instead of flipping the double hamflap and saying “sorry YOU feel that way but I need to buy food” you could ask if anyone else feels that way; heck, you could even ask if they have suggestions that would allow you to still cross promote your content while not irritating your readers with teaser linkbaiting. But this little episode apparently wasn’t enough to get the message across. This past Monday – an entire week later – Cecily felt the need to bring it up all over again and remind everyone that for just one click a day they could feed her family: Note: some folks have found it frustrating to have to click over to the Uppercase Lowdown from my blog to read the entire posts that I’ve been putting here on Mondays. I totally get that it’s annoying that I’m posting there instead of here; but I’ll tell you what I mentioned to folks in the comment section of my post last Monday. Writing at this blog is my favorite thing in the world, but it doesn’t pay anything. My column at Babble Voices, however, DOES pay me – in fact, each column buys groceries for the week. So, yes, on Mondays I will be writing there instead of here. I hope you can accept that, and will go ahead and click over. Also, if you want to avoid the multiple clicks, you can click on the link right in the feed rather than come to my blog and then click over. Okay? Thanks, everyone, for understanding. Seriously, why can bloggers never just let stuff go? Why bring it up all over again? What exactly does that accomplish? If her position is “tough toodles, it pays my bills, now shut up and click or don’t read it” then what is the point in opening the topic up all over again for a second round of comments? If she’s not going to say “hey readers help me not annoy you”, then it just seems like a pathetic attempt to make herself sound upset in order to get some “don’t listen to those haters, CK!” hug circling from her fans. Or maybe it’s just another way of her saying YOU DON’T GET A SAY.
