Dooce Mommy Blogging Readers initially rejoiced when Dooce, requires two employees, posted a mildly interesting and almost amusing post about helicopters or something: Katrillionaire mommy blogger Dooce, don’t call her a mommy blogger, is once again reposting archives because she is “currently out of town on business, so for the next few days I’m going to post some things from my archives that many of you have probably never seen.”
Kristin Timmerman, that blogger over at Project Babies, recently decided to share some of her her political decisions on her personal facebook: No more hesitation. Christ was not ashamed of me while He hung on the cross and died…why should I be ashamed of Him today?Matthew Timmerman and I voted YES to the amendment today. Not because we hate homosexuals, not because we are ignorant rednecks, and not because we didn’t “educate ourselves” on the amendment. When the voting screen asked me if marriage is between one man and one woman, my heart and head both cried out YES! Our Christian faith is explicitly clear on the subjects of marriage and homosexuality (and many other issues). There is no gray area. We believe in loving everyone just as Christ loved us, but we are not interested in rewriting the Bible or His commandments. It doesn’t matter what our opinions are, God gave us rules to live by and when we willfully choose to not follow them, then we deceive ourselves. Your whole life, Christians, is to reflect the truth (yes, the WHOLE truth) found in God’s word. The Bible is inspired, authoritative, and infallible. You believe it ALL or you believe none. As a Christian, marriage is a covenant created by and ordained by God between one man and one woman. Popular or not – this is our vote and we stand by it. *shrug* k, whatever lady. If you want to make your voting choices with a bible in one hand that’s your call. I mean don’t we all vote partially based on our feelings and beliefs? I was kind of “eh, whatever” about this until I started reading the comments. A few people disagreed with Kristin and suddenly she declares Christians are being “suppressed”: ….so far I’ve been called close-minded, judgmental, & a hypocrite. Not because I attacked those that voted against amendment one, but because I explained why we voted FOR IT and encouraged other believers to do the same. It’s funny how the other side promotes “choose love” and “rights for all” yet they don’t want to hear anything Bible-believing Christians have to say and attack their belief system. Who is suppressing who?? I surrender all to my Lord. That includes my political beliefs, my marriage, my children, our work, everything. I will be a “fool” for Christ because He was a fool for me. She cannot be serious with this, right? A white, upper middle class Christian woman who just voted to continue denying basic rights to one of the most maligned groups of humans in America is going to claim she’s being suppressed? If she wants to vote however she wants, fine. But to then put on some defensive butthurt hat and declare: If people want to make assumptions about me or call me names….I gladly accept it for the cause of Christ. You see, I have taken up my cross on this issue and I am HAPPY to deal with the pushback. Consider it pure joy, my friends. …what? Hey lady, it’s cool that you like Jesus and stuff, but his cross is crowded. Stop trying to climb up there with him. Saying “too often, people choose what’s popular and easy over what is right” while waving the banner of your own righteousness just crosses into eyeroll territory. You’re not a martyr, Kristin. You’re just another well off married white lady who is turning her vagina into a salad shooter for babies and going to church. You’re about as suppressed as Detective Stabler interviewing a p**oph**e when nobody’s watching. Get over yourself. The author of the blog Baby Making Machine wants another child. Apparently, her husband hasn’t come all the way around to the idea. Her solution? Convince him! She has started a series called “Persuading my husband to have a baby in 30 days or less” and will be sharing her tactics of persuasion with all you ladies out there who also want your man to agree to a child: I’ve already missed the threshold for two toddlers, but I won’t miss it for a toddler and infant. Not if I can help it, and Lord willing… I’m married to a man who strives for perfection, and hates change, bless his heart. He’s waiting for the stars to align and tell him it’s the perfect time to have another child. That’s not going to happen. But he can thank his lucky stars for being married to a wonderful wife who can help him realize that the perfect time is NOW. She already seems to have a few ideas in mind: This could be done in a variety of ways, I imagine from talks about little boys, crying over baby commercials, bribery, and shameless seduction. I’ll try something new every day for a month, and if he’s still not convinced, I’ll give him a break and get a sperm donor. (KIDDING!) But there’s a catch: Of course, there’s always a chance that this could backfire.–That he’ll discover my little project and I don’t know… divorce me. But I don’t think that’s likely. –The divorce I mean. But to keep it a secret until after I’m impregnated I ask that nobody tells him about my grand scheme until the month is over. You know what I do when I don’t want people to find out about something? Post it on the internet! Everyone knows the internet is a private place where you can control who sees what you post! Now to her credit, she isn’t going to pull the ‘forgetting to take the birth control’ method. I actually extend major props for that, because I have heard some horror stories of women doing that and I really don’t think it’s an ok way to get what you want. I’m not even stranged out that a woman wants a baby and her man doesn’t, so she’s going to try and convince him. My side eye comes from making a public blog project out of it, and then hoping her husband doesn’t find out. Because seriously…wut?? Mommy blogger Katie Granju, of mamapundit, has practically based a career on the unfortunate and untimely death of her son Henry. She has managed to use that tragedy to some good, starting “Henry’s Fund to bring awareness to drug addiction. There is even a race scheduled this weekend, May 5, which will benefit Henry’s Fund. Unfortunately mom Katie won’t be attending the race. Because she’s still reeling from the recent anniversary of Henry’s death? Perhaps, but that’s not the reason she has given. It’s because Katie will be busy at the Versace Mansion in Florida, attending the Mom 2.0 Summit. Now lest you get your adult diapers in a bunch, Katie has addressed it on her blog already: NOTE: As I realized when the date was first announced, I will be traveling for already-scheduled work on the day of this weekend’s Cornerstone Classic 5k Race for Recovery to Benefit Henry’s Fund. But lots of the rest of our clan will be there on Saturday, and I hope that many of you will be as well. Is the Mom 2.0 Summit really work? Why yes! She is attending on behalf of HGTV in her “role as Social Media Manager”. Not to be a bortch, but does HGTV not allow people to take personal days or something? I understand people have to work – times are tough all over, kids – but Katie has made drug abuse awareness advocacy a major component of her identity. Maybe it’s just me (and obviously we can never know what obligations she has to HGTV) but if I were really destroyed over the death of someone I loved and had created a fund in his name, I think I would probably beg out of some mom summit early so I could attend an event that would benefit that fund. Like I said, maybe that’s just what *I* would do. Before anyone asks where the Post Of A Million Outrages went, it has been removed. As she promised, Dooce has had a lawyer send a letter to me and my hosting company threatening litigation over the rumors of her filming a YouTube show in LA. I was made to feel threatened by the next to last paragraph, which in my opinion implied that I could just make this all go away if I would reveal my source: Since I refuse to do this without the permission of my tipster or a court order, I have removed the disputed post. The communication stated I am also “liable for all damages and injury flowing from such a publication”; I’m going to assume this means anything from hurt feelings to falling pageviews. I have now stated multiple times that reporting on Dooce has no malicious intent. My opinions are just that – my opinions. As far as some pattern of attack or whatever, that’s ridiculous; Dooce is a celebrity, and my previous posts about her are commentary and reporting on information publicly posted by her and her husband and are reported as news, not a planned attack. Since roughly 9 posts out of over 1,400 on GOMIBLOG are about Dooce, I’m not sure how that constitutes some malicious repeated long term attempt to disparage her, but that’s neither here nor there. I’m not revealing my source. They are free to come forward themselves and ask me for her lawyers information if they choose to show they exist. The rest of you are free to assume whatever you want in regards to their existence. For the record this whole thing could have been avoided by a simple email to me saying my sources were incorrect and could I please remove the post, and I would have, and quickly put up a post with her denial and a statement that I only posted what my source sent me and they could have been wrong. I would have even apologised. Instead she chose to go this very aggressive, public route. Anyway, that’s that. The post is no longer public, Heather’s lawyer says she wasn’t doing anything with YouTube so presumably my source was incorrect, and as far I’m concerned this is over. Can we please all move on now and get back to making fun of Brit’s yoga mats and speculating on the state of Messicas uterus?
