Mommy Blogging We all know that pregnancy and babies are great blog content. They are the number one way to get pageviews (followed closely by weddings and tragedies). With seemingly every blogger busy crafting creative gender reveals, it’s time to check in with the internet and catch up with who’s glowing and showing. First Emphasis Added’s Emily, of jean diapers fame, announced that she is pregnant with her second child in two years. We look forward to more posts about losing baby weight with juice fasts and documented trips to the hospital. Janae of the running blog Hungry Runner Girl announced her pregnancy yesterday, and plans to name it “Janilly if it is a girl and Bilnae if it is a boy”. I know baby names are pretty personal, but the first thing I thought of was “she’s been watching too much ‘Teen Mom'”. At least she tactfully spared us an overly staged announcement video. Caitlin, “not wearing makeup is brave“, continues to bore the internet by regurgitating facts from “What To Expect When You’re Expecting” and reminding everyone that pregnancy is exhausting. Kath Younger, the celebrity behind oatmeal blogging, enters week 10 by showing us her underwire bra and generally being the yawn farmer we’ve come to expect. The only excitement so far seems to be her almost miscarriage. I know that’s only four. There are many more, but I’m already bored. So who’s next to announce their pregnancy? I’m still betting Messica of What I Wore will preg up soon, while some have emailed predictions of both Georgie Girl and Jordan Reid announcing second pregnancies by the end of the year. Place your bets now! Jenna Cole, smarter than poor people, loves talking about her “down there”. We’ve heard all about her struggles to keep her area from tearing during childbirth. It seems Jenna loves her vag gadgets, and she recently started using a new device to help her figure out how to flex her hoohah. Now Jenna is sharing the details of her exercise regimen for her personal place. She begins by giving a history of her urinary issues, and then treats us to the appetizing details of her situation: …[C]ontrol over my muscles down there has always been an area of weakness. During exercise, I have almost none and always have wet underpants when I finish working out…I recently went to a doctor who put his hand at the opening of my vagina and asked me to flex my Kegel muscles. It took me several tries just to figure out what I needed to do to make that happen! Happily she has discovered a kegel exercise ball. After begging a fellow blogger to let her review the new toy, she begins by alerting us to one of her problems with the product: I will first say that I dislike the white colored string on the ball, because if you insert it near the beginning/end of your menstrual cycle the string will turn a dull reddish-brown color from the blood on your vaginal walls. I wish they had made the string a dark brown or black. Never one to hold back, Jenna then goes on to explain her experience with the ball: The first day I put it in, it kept falling out. When riding in the elevator, walking up stairs, exercising. I was constantly finding the nearest bathroom and pushing it back up. Two days later, I couldn’t even keep it in. I suspect that my muscles were tired from holding it? I’ve been wearing it for over two weeks now though, and the last few days I have almost forgot that it was there. Delightful. Look, nobody should blame Jenna for her health issues, but is there just no line anymore? Does anyone keep anything to themselves? Why is she so obsessed with sharing the inner workings of her privates? Is this just another shock post in order to get hits? More importantly, should I have posted this after you’d all had your breakfast?
Penolope Trunk, person who claims to be influential, just couldn’t resist fishing for her own pageviews by posting a linkbait aside at Dooce. Apparently Miss Trunk feels she is the world’s authority on divorce because, you know, she went through one, and obviously all divorces and their causes are exactly the same. She feels she knows enough about every person’s circumstances to declare that there is no excuse for divorce – and then blasts Il Dooce in what is surely the entire reason for this uninformed garbage of a post: Heather Armstrong is a great blogger who I have followed for years. But I’m really stuck on the news that she just announced a separation from her husband. Armstrong supports her family with her blog, dooce.com, which is about herself, so of course, I watch her really closely. In her post announcing that she had asked her husband to leave, she said the two common, and delusional things we hear from divorced parents all the time: “I can’t be a good parent if I’m not happy and I’ll never be happy in this marriage.” and “The kids are doing so well. Kids are really resilient.” I’ve heard those things so many times. From parents who are getting a divorce who are full of Crap. The dad who tells everyone he got a divorce because his wife is crazy and then leaves his kids with the mom. Newsflash: if your wife is really crazy, then you are crazy for leaving your kids alone with her. In fact, you are not crazy, you’re willfully negligent. And if your wife is not really crazy then get your butt back to the house and raise your kids like an adult. She then goes on to announce that divorce “reflects mental illness” and “is for dumb people”. And her brilliant advice for women in abusive marriages? ” It takes two people to fight. And there’s great research to show that if you picked an asshole the first time, you’ll pick the same type of asshole the second time. (Which is why divorce rates for second marriages are so much higher than first marriages.) So instead of getting rid of your kids’ parent, figure out why you picked a person like this, and then get good at drawing boundaries.” I don’t know if this woman is just stupid, or is so high on the smell of her own farts that she believes anything she creates in her brain is gold and must be shared. All I do know is, if I want bad advice about marriage I’ll go read Kate Gosselin interviews. Heather Armstrong, IL DOOCE, is unraveling faster than a twice washed Ikea couch blanket. After her estranged husband posted some thoughts about her sponsored guest room on his blog, a few readers came forward in her post about the project with some criticism about the partnership – and her website in general. Project Baby, #19082348727290487 in your Mommy Blogger catalog, is worried about her child. It seems her baby likes to eat a lot of food, more than she feels Baby Socialite should be eating. I have this fear she is overeating. But here is the kicker: she is SO not even close to overweight. She has a tiny bit of baby tummy and chubby cheeks, but honestly? She is pretty lean. Did I mention I am still nursing her 5 times a day? My sister in law suggested she might have a super high metabolism like me. This could be the case, but I don’t recall my mom saying I ate like a trucker at eight months old. The truth is that I am concerned. She seems healthy and happy, but I just never imagined a baby could eat so much so often. Off topic, but it’s pretty impressive how she manages to work in a way to bring up her high metabolism every 10th post. Anywhores, apparently her kid eats a pallet of food a day and Kristi (or Kristin, or Karrot, or whatever her name is, I can’t read her ‘signature’ and I can’t be arsed to look it up) is not only worried about her physical health, but wonders if she is to blame for the food hoovering: Another fail: we are totally guilty of using food as a way to pacify. I just assumed she was crabby because she was hungry (which could be true), but throwing food at her every time she is upset doesn’t seem like the right strategy. Have I screwed her up forever??? No honey, that makes you Italian. I kid! That was racist. So how does Whatshercarrots handle this little situation? Call her mom or friends with kids? Take Baby Socialite to see the physician familiar with things like mediciney health topics and her child’s medical history? Head to google or WebMD? Nope! She wants advice from YOU, internets! That’s right, on the off chance that someone on the internet studied infant gastronomics at Phoenix University and is willing to diagnose a baby they’ve never met, That Hair is asking you, kind strangers, to tell her what is going on: I’m feeling anxious about the whole thing. I need someone to tell me that their baby also eats everything in sight. Anyone? Poopo? I may be a bitter/fat/wrinkled/cynical hag, but I really feel like shouting this sort of question into an empty closet would provide answers about as applicable as asking a bunch of people on the internet who don’t know your kid. If one minute she’s wringing her hands because her kid wants some of her bread, and the next she’s going “Maybe she has my high metabolism, did I mention I have a high metabolism this week, because I have a really high metabolism”, then I’m thinking maybe this isn’t quite the grisly “Micholee Williams on the train having an eat carnival in ‘Species‘” scene she makes it out to be. Then again I don’t have a baby, so I’m sure I’m not allowed to give advice. So let me give you some advice about your babies: when you have a question about their health maybe ask a doctor. Elena, made a baby, had her baby. After spending the past nine months focused on making sure she has a heterosexual baby, the alleged buy-a-bride finally produced her hypnobaby and posted the pics to her facebook wall. Unfortunately she didn’t get quite the outpouring of love she expected. She quickly started deleting comments like these:
Jenna Cole Lifestyle Blogging Mommy Blogging Jenna Cole, open minded and accepting, is using twitter to alert her fans to an atrocious new form of racism: hating Magic Mormon Undies. When her twitter followers pointed out that a religious belief is hardly on par with bigotry against genetics, Jenna attempted to sound intelligent: To be fair, Jenna would know all about the “latent racism that stubbornly persists” among middle class white people out in the square states. Then again this is probably just Jenna trying to stir the pot and make money from your eyerolling. That has to be it, right? Nobody can possibly really think “laughing at the top secret magick underpants” = “racism”…right?

That Wife Wants You To Stop Being Racist Towards Mormons

@hernewleaf No no, the author wasn’t implying that Mormonism is a race. The idea is that we mock people who wear “backwards” clothing b/c we…associate that kind of thing with other cultures/races who are uneducated and somehow “less than”…This sentence was key for me: rather, mockery of Mormon temple garments as “magic underwear” could possibly be seen to reveal…latent racism that stubbornly persists among white, middle-class Americans against the various races & ethnicities of the world…whom they mentally associate with (silly or superstitious?) religious costumes worn out of ignorance or oppression.
