“Flora and Fauna” Will Now Revert Back To Her Old Self

Oh well.

Tatiana, the blogger known as Love, Life, Lace who flounced off the internet only to return once she got pregnant, has been applauded by many GOMIBLOGers for seemingly ending her try-hard twee domestic posing and just being a normal young mom.

Well you can put away your clapping hands. Tatiana announced that she would be going back to that previous persona:

I’m going back. Back to me, back to what feels comfortable, back to what feels right…I apologized to all my pretty dresses and blouses and before I knew it I was making an appointment with my hairstylist to get bangs again (it’s really happening and I’m really scared!!). The truth is I learned I’m just not lanky or edgy or “modely” enough for the trendy hipster look…

Tatiana then goes on to explain that she loves Anne Shirley and Pride & Prejudice which means she’s just way too nerdy to be a hipster:

It’s time I admit that I’ve always been a nerd, I am a nerd and I’ll probably always be a nerd. I will always swoon over a peter pan collar, twirly dress and bright lipstick.

It took about 5 seconds for her to get back to bangs, milkmaid braids, and posting twee pastries. So I guess now she’s back to being a carbon copy of all the other pretty pretty things blogs. It makes me want to pull a Tyra; we were all rooting for you, Tatty!

First Week Of “Hey Natalie Jean” Is Sponsored By Everyone

Natalie Jean, ‘professional’ ‘writer’, has managed to confuse and annoy her readers within the first week of her blog rebrand. Kicking off her new brand with two sponsored posts in a row, Natalie was forced to field some disappointment from fans. In response, she took to twitter and did some damage control:

Oh...ok

Readers gave Natalie a break, assuming it was simply awkward timing. That is until yesterday, when yet another sponsored post appeared. Today, when a fourth sponsored post rounded out the first week of the new brand – the second in a row, despite her previous statement that it would not happen again – it seems some readers began to have just about enough:

Comments 1 and 2

Comment 4Comment 3

Natalie promptly began deleting comments asking why her disclosure did not meet the FTC’s recommended guidelines, and then ran to twitter once again in an attempt to end further discussion about the matter:

well pardon us

Needless to say many of Natalie’s fans are less than thrilled with the new direction her blog is taking. Perhaps if she rebranded it Hey, Natalie Will Shill Anything at least folks would know what they were in for and she wouldn’t have to apologize on twitter so often.

BlissDom Conference Is BlissDone

The six year old blogger conference known as BlissDom is peacing out of the annual slumber party business in order to “focus on new endeavors”:

What a wonderful ride it’s been for all of us! Way back in 2008 when we started BlissDom, we had no idea how thriving and successful it would become…It has been truly an amazing journey and we want you to know just how grateful we are that you are part of the BlissDom family. So because you’re family and all, we wanted to share the news that we will no longer be doing the BlissDom conference.

The organizers tell folks not to think of it as an end, but “as editing and making room for more wonderful things to come” and include some cringey video picture montage tribute thing set to a sad song. Meanwhile you can practically hear the soft strains of Green Day playing in the background as the 50 people who care about this are hugging and posting ‘remember whens’ over on facebook like it’s the goodbye session on the lawn after graduation.

So there goes that – one less ‘event’ for bloggers to ‘speak’ at and pad their ‘resume’ with. Now, who wants to do the over/under on how long BlogHer has left?

Hugo Schwyzer Will Ghostwrite Your Article About Hugo Schwyzer

It seems Hugo Schwyzer, too many problems to list, isn’t content to use only internet flounces and repeated twitter meltdowns to manufacture dialogue about himself. Lesley Kinzel has now claimed that Schwyzer is trying to tell people what to write about him as he attempts to craft his new persona:

Hugo Schwyzer has emailed me directly to offer suggestions for how I should write about what a monster he is…I personally believe that Schwyzer is now trying to construct a new redemption narrative that he can rebuild some semblance of a career on, I am extremely resistant to do what he has literally asked me to do and play along by writing up a piece about how terrible he is and how he totally “fooled” me, thereby keeping him at the center of the conversation and sustaining his media frenzy.

And so the list of Schwyzer’s manipulations continues to grow. Seriously is there any shady thing this guy WON’T do?

Daisy Is Done Listening To You People

IT'S PART OF YOUR JOB, PRINCESS

XOJane.com, the summit of what online magazines for women should be, has managed to produce another author tantrum. Daisy Barringer – the “sports gal” for the site – has announced in a totally mature twitter fashion that xojane commenters are like, dead to her.

Finished. They are insane and crazy and cruel and psychotic. I’m over it! 🙂

She goes on to say:

I feel like every comment under this post is going to be “no duh xojane hates their commenters, where have you been pp?” But I think that if you feel this way about your readers, it is in your best interests as a professional writer to not go around publicly calling them a bunch of lunatics whose feedback you must ignore from now on because the edges of your snowflake are melting. Maybe at that point it’s time to find a new career. I mean if you don’t care to hear what all readers think about your work, why keep writing?

The Generous Husband Will Help You Raise Your Wife

The Generous Husband, wife schooler, would like to help you school your wife. In his post “Helping Her Grow Up” he gives advice on how to inform your woman that she is wrong and needs to change.

He provides helpful hints such as “Is it a bad time of the month? Her hormones really do affect her” and to wait an “hour after a meal or snack” to make sure she’s not hungry. He also warns men to construct a flawless argument against the contrary and stubborn nature of women – “if she can find what she thinks is a flaw with any one of your arguments, she may use that as a way of dismissing everything you have said.” He concludes by basically telling men they shouldn’t bother to use logic because “she likely knows when she is sinning, and yet she is still doing it” – you have to to appeal to her feelings, because that’s all women understand.

At first reading it seems somewhat sensible, which makes it all the more infuriating. Mild misogyny is the most insidious kind because it starts off sounding like it’s trying to bring the sexes together, but really just always ends up with men being the rational, mature sex, and women being the emotional, hormonal sex. I’m not sure how that’s helpful at all.

And frankly if you marry someone you feel the need to help ‘grow up’ then maybe you chose badly. If you want a child to raise then adopt one, don’t marry one.

Jennifer Thinks Your Partner’s Affair Is Probably Your Fault

Jennifer Carsen, some writer over at Parent Society, has written a super helpful post explaining why infidelity happens. To sum it up, your partner cheats because of you.

Evidently letting yourself go, not putting out enough, and directing your attention “to your children, or your job, or maybe even caring for an ailing parent” instead of your significant other will push them straight into the genitals of someone who puts down the fork and pulls their drawers to the side more frequently.

Whether these points have any basis in truth or not is beside the point to me. This article, which seems to be directed at women, smacks of the kind of mansplaining crap men say in order to absolve themselves of blame for porking someone else. Do we really need to legitimize the “it’s never my fault” movement with crap like this?

And by the way, saying there’s “no excuse for cheating” doesn’t mean squat when you then go on to excuse it with a list of 7 reasons why it’s the fault of the betrayed party.
