Jordan Reid Suggests You Dress Like Her

Jordan Reid, totally not hung up on how huge her stomach is getting, has posted a mommy fashion post over on some blog. First she makes sure to flip the bird our direction for suggesting she stop traipsing around on her roof in platform heels and labia burner shorts:

I am all about keeping an ironclad grip on my pre-pregnancy style. While I’m more than happy to make safety concessions (at six and hald months pregnant, the heels are now staying put in my purse until I get my be-flip-flopped self to wherever it is that I’m going), to me, dressing in a way that makes me feel pretty and stylish isn’t just a mood-lifter…it’s an essential aspect of my pregnancy. Having a baby may very well (and probably will) change everything in my life…but it doesn’t mean that I have to “tone it down” or “dress more maternally” (whatever that means). If short shorts (or muumuus, for that matter) are what make me happy, then that’s what I’m wearing.

She then lists off her pregnant lady fashion suggestions. Not surprisingly it is basically a how-to on dressing like Jordan, featuring low-rise coochie cutter shorts (“Your legs will likely not change as much as the rest of your body, so show them off!”) and floppy sleeved off-the-shoulder tops (“Dolman-sleeve flowy top: Chic, cozy, and easy to layer with a tank for a little extra coverage.”) She rounds out the list with a crap that every pregnant woman already knows about – empire waist dresses.

Thanks for the tips on how to dress like Lorleen in Paduka Trailer Park, Jordan! Another fine piece of fashion reporting informing us for the 9209338th time what YOU like to wear.

Rich Tong Would Like To Ignore Your Suggestions

Rich Tong, decider of who is popular in fashion tumblrs, is asking for nominations for the next super successful tumblr fashion week:

With NYFW less than 8 weeks away, we’re looking to send some of the most creative people from our community to cover fashion week on our behalf.

Last February, we were amazed at the incredible coverage from the 24 Tumblr bloggers at fashion week and I can’t wait to see what happens in September.  This time around, in particular, we’re looking to include 4 bloggers to specifically cover beauty, hair, shoes & accessories.

If you’d like to recommend someone (or yourself!) for one of those 4 categories, let me know!  Send me an email at rich@tumblr.com with a link to the blog, the category of choice and why you think they’d be a great fit.  Can’t wait to hear from you guys!

**Please note that to attend NYFW, you must be available to be in NYC for the dates of 9/7-9/16.

Go now and nominate your mostest fave blog so that Rich can ignore your suggestions and invite his best friends anyway! We look forward to more “incredible coverage” from his choices.

Melissa Knows What Sells

DearBabyBlog.com is rapidly turning into the DearBoobsBlog (come on, it was out there, I had to).

Her last two posts feature gloriously tasteful shots showcasing her pride in her new post-baby appendages. First we were gifted with a softly backlit breastfeeding shot; and yesterday we were treated to a boobtastic bikini picture. Apparently Missy is amused with her toys:

Also, as a lifelong 32B cup, I find these boobs of mine hilarious. I wake up daily thinking “Whose body is this?!?!” I feel like a squishier, less blonde (and tan and a million other adjectives) version of Pam Anderson.

Attention new mommy bloggers: this is how you get the men interested in your blog.

Internet Demands Explanation For LoveLifeLace Outfit

Tatiana, the trying-so-hard-to-be-twee blogger of Love Lies Space, apparently decided that today is the day she becomes a Breton farmer.

Because it’s not enough to just wear stripes, gold loafers, and the Hipster Bangs-n-Bun if you want to be taken seriously as a pseudo-hipster lifestyle blogger, Twatiana threw in some overfupas. She added this description:

I totally felt like Where’s Waldo? in this outfit!

Huh? How do you get “Where’s Waldo” from this? More like “Where’s Style?” amiright high five! But really, what is the reasoning behind…this? What is this? What is going on in this photo? I just don’t understand what events are conspiring in her life that necessitates these overfupas. The only reason to wear this outfit is if it’s Thanksgiving afternoon and nothing else will button. Keep it up, Twatiana! You’re one elastic waist outfit away from giving up on life.

Indiana Thinks Jessica Quirk Is “Fashionable”

What I Wore’s Jessica Quirk, giver of “expert style tips”, made the Style section of some local Indiana paper. Under the headline “Hoosier Jessica Quirk is fashionable girl next door, Her blog and book offer advice and a look at her own wardrobe”, some midwestern daily ran this hilarious piece.

For Jessica Quirk, fashion isn’t about walking all over each other in this season’s Prada pumps to get in the front row at fashion week. It’s simply about looking good and feeling confident.

In her book, “What I Wore: Four Seasons, One Closet, Endless Recipes for Personal Style” (Ballantine Books, $18), named for her widely known personal style blog, Quirk infuses her style expertise with the voice and charm of a Midwestern girl next door.

Although Quirk, 28, lived in New York for several years and traveled the world as a designer for a small company, the Indiana native is again living in Bloomington, where she recently signed copies of her book at The Blueline Gallery. She said it was important for her to include her love for Indiana in the book.

“I know there is a fashion-focused segment of the population who go straight to runways, but there is a huge demographic that’s not being targeted. I can relate to wanting to be fashionable on a budget or liking to look good but not loving shopping — I want to be someone women trust taking advice from, like your sister or your neighbor.”

“What I Wore” is an inspirational style guide that every girl and woman should have in her closet.

The article goes on to describe the book and includes Messica’s “expert style tips” such as “I learned to never wear white bra and panties after seeing a photo of myself taken with a bright flash.” The best part is the closing paragraph:

So far, the feedback has been positive, although, Quirk says, “The book feels like a risk because it’s out there. . . . I can’t edit or delete it the way I can a blog post. People can see it and do or say what they want.”

Clearly the writer of this story has not seen the book reviews online. Not only Amazon, but various bloggers reviewing the book have given it a lukewarm reception at best. Some style bloggers have informed us they are opting out of reviewing the book altogether for fear a negative review will spark drama.

And now I’d like to quickly say that the above outfit (from Friday, according to Messica’s blog) is probably the most flattering thing she has worn lately. I don’t like the dress material and I’m not a fan of the belt, but at least she’s wearing different shoes and the silhouette she’s sporting here takes 10 lbs off of her. See? I can say nice things when she doesn’t frump herself up like a Mad Men extra.

Julia Allison Finally Provides New Yoga Fauxto

Julia Allison, yoga picture taker, has at last decided to update her classic fauxga picture. Since she can’t possibly do anything in private, Miss Julia Bunny had someone take a series of pictures she later uploaded with gripping captions such as:

Ommmmmm

Afternoon yoga class al fresco in Santa Monica.  It was heaven.

Presumably that Taylor guy  was taking all these poses, since he was there but only appears in one pic. So thanks to him for providing us with a fresh new fauxga pic for a new decade of Julia’s life!
