Jenna Cole Mommy Blogging WTF Jenna Cole, That Weirdo, snapped an adorable photo of her children today. They are playing “robot massager game” which teaches them sharing and how to put mommy’s vibrator on their face. Mothers of the world, enlighten me – is this a normal thing you would share with the world? Because I tend to think this is major overshare. Maybe Jenna should save such moments to share as private anecdotes to tell her closest friends and family instead of posting them where her kids’ future classmates and prom dates can find them. Jenna Cole, solo parent, will no longer need all those single mom meetup groups. It seems That Husband has finally taken a position in the same city his family lives in. Seeing each other every night will take some adjustments on our part. I’ve gotten used to eating what I want, when I want, and putting together something simple and easy for the kids for dinner and I think developing a food routine that involves preparing something for him will be the hardest change for me. And it sounds like she’s already dreading the bedtime routine – all that icky “canoodling” that might have to happen on a regular basis now that he’s home all the time. I’m going to be most annoyed by him coming him and telling me things like “You need to go to bed now, or wait an hour” (so he can fall asleep). I’m a grownup and don’t need other people telling me when I can and can’t go to bed! (But I get what he’s asking for 🙂 ) I can’t wait to see how long it takes TH to see exactly how little Jenna appears to accomplish during her #WAHM time. Jenna’s vague posts about their arguments are going to be epic.
Jenna Cole, “work” at home mom, did an interview with another blogger about “making it work”. Apparently she’s no longer calling herself a “single parent” and is going with the less eyeroll inducing “solo parent” to describe her arrangement. And her arrangement, in a nutshole? That Husband makes the money, and she does whatever she wants. I have total control over what the kids wear, what they eat, what they do, when they go to bed, how they are disciplined, etc. In the evenings after the kids are in bed I get to watch whatever I want as I fold the laundry, and can work late into the night if I please without a spouse asking me to come talk or canoodle…The best of the best parts is that my husband is paid very well and we get to live in an expensive area on one income + the little bit I make from blogging and photography each month. Another “best” part of her arrangement is that they “get to do that with all sorts of indulgences, including child-free time for me and a killer preschool that our son goes to full-day Monday-Friday”. Of course there are “frustrating and draining” challenges, including the “two things that are hardest” for Ms. Leaningin. …I only have a few hours a month where I don’t have to pay someone to do something without my kids in tow…and that all of the stresses of parenting young children fall entirely on me…I plan the meals, shop for the food, prepare the meals, feed the kids…and clean up the meal all on my own. My floor is rarely swept, I eat almost all of my dinners standing up while trying to unload/load the dishwasher, and I’m grateful they teach my son to brush his teeth at school because once dinner is cleaned up all I want to do is get them to bed as fast as possible. She explains she uses lots of scheduling apps to tell her when to work (three days a week, from home, while her kids are in daycare) and once she gets them home from daycare she has to figure out other ways to get Jenna Time. Most of the time on the weekday evenings I want to work on something at home, but there are times when my girlfriends get together and I need to decide if I want to pay someone to sit in my house while my kids are sleeping so I can leave the house. That “trapped” feeling really stinks. She goes on to say her brother-in-law is currently living with them which means she can peace out once the kids are asleep and leave them with the live in manny, saying she likes “the arrangement so much that I’m campaigning for my sister to move in with me later this summer”, presumably to have yet another person to outsource childcare onto. Is it just me, or does it sound like Jenna is constantly complaining about not having enough Jenna time? She has more childcare than Kate Middleton yet she is always talking about what a burden it is to take care of the humans she brought into this world by choice. How much “me” time does this woman need? Jenna Cole, caring mother, spent Mother’s Day giving her children their ‘weekly bath’. Yes, just like they did in the days before running water Jenna washes her children only once a week. And how’s that working out? You read correctly – her son’s friend at school told him he stank. When commenters pointed out that maybe it’s time to scrub her stinker more often no matter the time of year, Jenna simply told them they need to read a book on the “history of bathing”. Asked why she only washes her kids once a week in the first place, Jenna responded with classic Jenna-ness. So basically it has nothing to do with her “academic-lite” position on personal hygiene, and everything to do with her wanting motherhood to be as little work as possible. Such an inspiration for “single” moms everywhere! Despite being a married SAHM, Jenna Cole apparently considers herself a “single parent” – and a working single parent at that. Her meetup.com profile shows Jenna, whose online presence is That WIFE, has joined at least two single parent meetup groups. She also lists her “interests” as “Working Moms”, “Single working parents”, and “Single Parent Support Group”. Did Jenna get a divorce that we’re not aware of? Because I’m pretty sure a married SAHM shouldn’t be going around to working single mom groups looking for support. Having a husband work out of town 4 days a week is hardly on par with being a single working mom. WTF is she thinking? Jenna Cole, stay at home tweeter, has had a busy few days. It seems nannies and mother’s helpers are no longer providing enough “me time” for Jenna, because now both of her children have been shipped off to daycare: And how did Jenna spend her first day full of newfound work hours? Why, telling her readers their opinions don’t matter, of course. Saying she is a “gladiator in my own arena” and that the “feedback that does matter comes from a very select group of people” who provide her with hugs when she shares things, she announced she won’t be listening to anyone else from now on: And now, when the clouds gather and the mental stewing begins, I picture My Arena. Is the feedback I’m considering coming from the hug+honesty group? No? Then I’ll be moving right along thankyouverymuch. I’ve got a battle to fight and a life to live. There is greatness to be had. When readers suggested that the post came off a bit “you don’t get a say” Jenna responded by telling them “If you want your opinion heard, then don’t jeer. It’s pretty simple.” She went on to tell commenters that since it’s “impossible to please everyone” from now on she will only listen to “people who fit my criteria for feedback”. Presumably meaning not her readers. Since she tweeted that her “work” is now blogging and photography I’m not sure why she thinks it’s a good move to essentially tell her readers that she won’t be listening to them anymore unless they agree with the “hugs” group. If that’s how a blogger feels it’s best to just quietly turn off comments, not check replies to your twitter, and setup email filters without some big fingers-in-ears post. If bloggers have learned anything it should be that telling your readers they don’t matter is basically career suicide. Or, as one commenter said, “Good luck turning your blog into a full-time job with that attitude.” Jenna Cole, on Good Morning America and don’t you forget it, recently confessed that not only does she have her 3 year old son in daycare, she also has a part-time nanny: Well evidently that’s no longer enough “me time” for Jenna – she’s now looking for even more childcare help: For someone who thinks all women want to do is have kids, she sure seems to be seeking a lot of ways to not have to deal with her kids. Can someone tell me if this much childcare help is required for your average middle class stay at home mom? I mean, I don’t have kids so maybe it’s totally normal to have your childcare outsourced to this degree when your supposed “job” is raising your kids.
