What I Wore Back At Home After Surgery

messica

Jessica Quirk, used to have a successful style blog, went into the hospital a week ago suffering from mastitis. The situation apparently turned serious a few days later.

UPDATE: I just got out of surgery to have an abscess drained that formed after the antibiotics caused the infection to coalesce. In pain but hopefully will be better soon.

Messica has now left the hospital and is recovering at home.

Jessica Quirk Taking A Break, Feels Free

Messica, FMLA slacktivist and donut connoisseur, has apparently begun her ‘maternity leave’ from her blog. The overworked blogtrepreneurial mom-to-be has spent the last few weeks trying to make her leave about all the mothers in America.

I think it’s really unfair to say that because I create my own schedule, it’s any less challenging or “easy” than someone who works an office job. I’m sure other people who work from home would agree that there’s some misunderstandings about work/life balance. Further, while blogging (or working from home) may be more flexible, the bigger issue for me is that women in America have many unspoken expectations to bounce back, return to work quickly and “do it all” which is what I’m working through for myself.

Deciding to live as an example Messica announced she’s going to take another one of her breathers. Saying she’s “feeling a little shy in front of the camera and have been struggling with fatigue, so I’ve decided it’s best to let myself have a break from the blog until after the baby is born and we’ve gotten to spend time together as a family”, she went on to show how much she will miss blogging by posting a squealing tweet declaring her freedom from the grueling task of posting outfits and sponsored posts.

As mothers everywhere prepare a parade for her brave stand against forcing women to produce blog posts after giving birth, Messica assures the internets that she will still be producing pageview generators.

I’ve been working on some posts that I’ll publish between now and then, so there will be fresh stuff on the site each week – just not outfit photos.

Anyone want to place money on how long she’s able to tolerate her dropping pageviews before she starts posting pics of “What My Baby Wore”?

What I Wore Finally Announces Pregnancy

eyeroll

Jessica Quirk, running out of content, has finally publicly confirmed – she’s pregnant.

We’re expecting our first baby this summer! We could not be more thrilled with our happy news…On a hunch and a day late, I decided to run to the store to grab a pregnancy test on Christmas Eve – and that’s when we found out! What a happy holiday!!

I guess now that she can’t hide under big coats anymore she sort of HAD to announce it if she intends to continue doing What I Wore as a style blog. Saying “I’ll also be sharing some baby and pregnancy related posts from time to time” she explained that she was too tired for her first trimester to post outfit posts.

So at last Messica is pregnant and I think it’s highly likely that she will transition into lifestyle/mommy blogging. I’m sure the internet is eagerly awaiting What I Wore While Pregnant, and What My Baby Wore.

Even Messica No Longer Cares About What Messica Wears

Jessica Quirk, professor of teaching how to draw stick figure Jessicas, is apparently all but over personal style blogging. She recently announced that What I Wore would be transitioning into a lifestyle blog;  now she tells readers she’s “spending a little less time thinking about what to wear”:

I’ve been resorting to my own archives for ideas on how to get dressed these days. With my mind on other things (like my upcoming lesson plans!) I just don’t care as much about clothes these days.

If you’re doing more lifestyle posts and no longer care about clothes…isn’t it maybe time to rebrand and be done with it? I’m so confused – all these bloggers who don’t need to are rebranding, yet the one blog that really should, isn’t. Gawd internets ur like harder than math sometimez!

What I Wore Finally Becomes Lifestyle Blog

After basically abandoning her attempts to get her blog That’s Quirky off the ground, Jessica Quirk has decided instead to begin transitioning her daily outfit blog into a lifestyle site.  In yesterday’s post she announced the coming change:

On a side note: If you’re only here for Daily Outfit posts, please save THIS LINK in your bookmarks. You’ll be seeing more food and lifestyle posts on What I Wore in 2014!

We’ve been saying for a while that she needs to fold What I Wore into her “That’s Quirky” site and just have a lifestyle blog. Despite how much I hate rebranding, Messica is one person who would actually benefit from one. She hasn’t been posting outfits with any real frequency for at least a year, and honestly she doesn’t seem that into the “personal style blog” concept any longer. Between taking on a side job and revamping her site’s purpose it looks like she’s finally accepting that her reign as queen of the daily outfits is over.

“What I Wore” Gets A Real Job

Jessica Quirk, one of the first “style bloggers” to claim “full time blogger” status has evidently accepted that posting outfit pictures to your tumblr isn’t really a “job”. According to the Indiana University website, Messica has joined their faculty under the Apparel Merchandising department.

THE BLOG END TIMES ARE NIGH

Messi has yet to announce what she’ll be doing, but if it’s a teaching position I will never stop feeling embarrassed for IU.

I wonder what happened to the days of insane ad prices, NYFW, sponsorships from Coach and Kate Spade, renting “studio space”, and proudly bragging about doing WIW as her “full time job“? Oh how the middling have fallen.
